Birthright Israel – Returns to the Northern Towns
This year, Birthright Israel will celebrate its 25th anniversary, having introduced 850,000+ young Jews from 68 countries to Israel. For the first time since October 7, Birthright Israel tours returns to the northern regions, and volunteers will begin activities over the next few weeks.
During the winter season (which runs through March 2025) they expect to bring 300+ groups from around the world to Israel, with 6,500 young Jewish adults participating in 10-day trips, internships, and volunteering opportunities.
In December the age limit was raised allowing adults from 18 to 50 to volunteer (previously the age was capped at 40). This decision offers intergenerational connections, provides volunteers to help Israel rebuild, and strengthens ties to the land through meaningful action.
Birthright Israel CEO Gidi Mark shared some observations
“While the war has undoubtedly presented challenges, it has only underscored the vital importance of our mission. As we mark 25 years since our founding, Birthright Israel remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening Jewish identity, fostering a connection to Israel, and building a strong sense of community.
Since the war began, we’ve been inspired by the remarkable resilience and unwavering determination of our participants to come to Israel. Each day, I meet participants who are so happy to finally be here. They share how safe they feel and how deeply proud they are to be part of the Jewish people. ”
