Looking for a unique snack? Primal Krisp offers a portable, high-protein alternative to traditional jerky. They are now certified Kosher for Passover by the OU and Tartikov (previously they were certified by the Star-K and the KCL (Kashrus Council of Lakewood)). These thin, crispy pieces of brisket or lean chicken crunch like potato chips, providing a savory snacking sensation that is both clean and satisfying. Primal Krisp is made of two simple ingredients, meat and salt, and nothing extra.

Primal Crisp has a light, airy texture that almost melts in your mouth without leaving a mess on your hands.

What is Primal Krisp?

Primal Krisp is made only from thin slices of meat (1st or 2nd cut brisket and lean chicken), with salt. The meat is slow-roasted to remove the moisture and seasoned with sea salt. (BBQ Chicken or Texas Heat includes spices, including garlic powder and paprika).

These crispy, satisfying, and protein-packed snacks are a guilt-free, fleshing treat. Each one-ounce serving contains 15 to 20 grams of protein, 10 grams of fat, as well as 6% iron and potassium. Calories range from 115 for BBQ chicken to 155 for 2nd cut brisket. While they have no sugar or carbohydrates, they do have 30 mg of cholesterol and 435 mg of sodium.

Primal Krisp comes in 2-ounce resealable bags. They will stay fresh for at least 6 months when the bag is sealed. For optimal freshness, they recommend refrigeration after opening and finishing the contents within 3 days.

They sell five varieties [four of which were Kosher-for-Passover (unfortunately, as of March 24, they are already sold out for 2026)], but they will be available after the holiday. Primal Krisp is available for purchase online (they hope to be in stores soon)

  • Two meat – 1st and 2nd cut brisket
  • Two chicken – BBQ and original Chicken – made from lean chicken
  • Texas Heat [which is the only variety not Kosher for Passover] – made from 1st cut brisket, and packs a fiery kick.

Prime Krisp was created by two friends, Yehuda and Michael, who were Dads concerned that their children have access to healthier kosher snacking options. They wanted a protein snack that was not full of sugar or loaded with preservatives. They developed the recipe for two-years in their home kitchens. In May 2025, they launched Prime Krisp -‘Real meat. No sugar. No junk.’

Our Experience

We enjoyed the clean, simple ingredients used to make these protein chips. Our tasters found the mouthfeel innovative. These crisp, paper-thin meat was filling and satisfying. We noted the proteins had a very different appearance, strips so thin you could see through them. The meat chips were marbled, while the chicken looked more like a super-thin melba toast.

Both were super thin, almost weightless. We enjoyed the way the savory, slow-roasted flavor melts in your mouth with every bite. Like potato chips, we could not eat just one. Our tasters used them as a cracker alternative.

Calling this just an elevated jerky would be an injustice. Prime Krisp is a protein on-the-go snack. In a world of sugary jerky and processed chips, Primal Krisp provides a healthier alternative. It’s real meat, with a crunch, and no junk. This Passover, skip the heavy starches and reach for the protein – your taste buds will thank you.

Try it for Passover, then continue crunching throughout the year.
