AMNA – Even the Bottle Makes a Great Impression
By Chef David [Updated February 2026]
AMNA is the first and only tequila distillery in Nayarit, Mexico, showcasing the depth and complexity of Nayarit agaves. The AMNA brand was the dream of founder Gerardo Madrigal, who was determined to support Nayarit, Mexico, the state where his family lived. Gerado’s personality can be characterized by his drive to succeed, setting an example for others. He was an educator dedicated to supporting his students, and as an entrepreneur, he was driven to improve the economy of Nayarit, transforming it into a state producing high-quality tequila. All of AMNA’s production, including the glass for the bottles, is done in Mexico.
AMNA is a premium tequila, in a distinctive bottle, that embraces Mexican heritage, the agave, and love for the land. It is certified kosher by MK.

Gerardo’s Passion
Gerardo was born and raised in East Los Angeles. His parents immigrated in 1972 and worked blue-collar jobs to provide him with a better life. He barely graduated from high school, but at East Los Angeles College, he discovered an aptitude for math. He earned a scholarship to CSULA and a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics. He was the only Mexican American in the program.
In 2014, Gerardo traveled to Nayarit and fell in love with the land, which included volcanoes, waterfalls, and a rich culture. He convinced his grandfather to rent him his parcel of land. The next year, he began cultivating agave (which takes 5-7 years to mature). He kept planting 6-hectare lots and now grows enough agave to produce 20,000-40,000 cases of AMNA tequila a year.

Supporting the Community
AMNA supports local Nayarit blue agave farmers, which brings income and economic activity to the region. Blue agave can be produced in 5 Mexican states: Jalisco, Nayarit, Guanajuato, Michoacán, and Tamaulipas, but Nayarit and Tamaulipas were the only states without distilleries (until now).
Philanthropy is an important part of the AMNA brand. They provide book grants and scholarships for bilingual students in East Los Angeles. In Mexico, they support STEM education, encouraging students to pursue careers in math, science, and medicine.
The Bottle Makes A Statement
The AMAN bottle is simple but distinctive. Envisioned to reflect Mexican heritage while providing a premium feel. The minimalistic bottle focuses attention on the raised rhomboidal geometric pattern, reminiscent of traditional Mexican and Aztec historic artifacts, which feature similar geometry and the sharply pointed leaves of agave plants.

AMNA Tequila
AMNA Tequila is made of agave that is at least 6 years old with more than 40 degrees Brix (Brix measures the sugar content in agave). Their tequila is smooth, medium-robust with vanilla notes. They offer five varieties distinguished by subtle taste profiles and the length of aging.
Our team found AMNA to be a premium tequila presented in an elegant bottle that stands out on the shelf and at kidduish.
Five Varieties
- BLACK Bottle – Blanco – 100% pure Agave 40% Alc. Vol.
Crystal clear and luminous, with light vanilla and cooked agave notes, inspired by exotic aromas of white flowers, fresh citrus, and subtle herbs. Hints of white pepper and mineral notes add gentle complexity. It delivers smooth, balanced flavors. The agave is perfectly counterpointed by citrus brightness and peppery spice.
- ROSE Bottle – Rosa Blanco – 100% pure Agave with natural hibiscus 40% Alc. Vol.
Floral tequila infused with natural hibiscus (jamaica), giving it a distinctive pink hue, floral aroma (rose, hibiscus), and palate with notes of agave, vanilla, peach, and apple. Smooth, slightly sweet, and refreshing.
- WHITE Bottle – Reposado – 100% pure Agave 40% Alc. Vol.
A medium robust tequila that is aged for 6 months in French and American oak barrels. Presenting with light notes of basil and mint, and with the subtle sweetness of fruits like apple and peach. We noted a yellow tint and the smooth taste.
- Shiny COPPER Bottle – Anejo – 100% pure Agave 40% Alc. Vol.
Made with very ripe select agaves, aged a minimum of 12 months in French and American oak barrels, giving it a strong presence of agave, brown sugar, vanilla, and butterscotch. The aromas are described as complex, with notes of pine nut, chocolate, vanilla, and toasted almond, with a fruity ending. We felt it was pleasant, with a yellow tint and a gentle taste.
- Shiny SILVER Bottle –Cristalino – 100% pure Agave 40% Alc. Vol.
Aged in American and French oak barrels for 14 months. With warm scents of vanilla, black pepper, and citrus/pineapple. Crystal clear and brilliant. This medium-bodied tequila delivers the aroma and flavor of baked agave, with a pleasant finish. We would characterize it as smooth and clean, ideal for sipping.

Premium Elegant Tequila
AMNA tequila makes a powerful statement. Their distinctive bottles signify the elegance and grace of a premium brand and respect for their Nayarit heritage. The AMNA brand was built on family values and community. We believe it embodies founder Gerardo Madrigal’s success, pushing himself and becoming an inspiration for future generations.
He shared the secret to AMNA: “Never give up in the face of adversity. Have courage, strength, hope, perseverance, tenacity, and ambition to dream big.”
AMNA is an elegant, medium-bodied premium tequila that can be sipped, mixed, or gifted. Even its distinctive bottle was expertly designed to make an impression. It’s a good way to introduce high-quality tequila to the kosher consumer.
AMNA can be purchased online or in select stores.
